Custom Kitchen Cabinets

Cabinetry designed around how your family cooks, gathers and stores — built to last generations.

Legacy Cabinets & Remodeling designs and installs custom kitchen cabinets for homeowners in Forney, Rockwall, Dallas, Frisco and across Dallas–Fort Worth. Choose shaker, flat-panel or inset doors, your wood species, finish and hardware. Pricing depends on size and materials. Request a free quote online or on WhatsApp and we will schedule an in-home consultation.

Your cabinets do more work than anything else in the kitchen. They hold the everyday dishes and the holiday platters, the lunchbox supplies and the good knives — and they set the tone of the whole room the moment you walk in.

We design custom cabinetry around your family: where you actually stand when you cook, where the kids drop backpacks, what needs to stay out of small hands. Then we build and install it with the care of furniture, not the speed of a production line.

Signs it is time for new cabinets

Peeling thermofoil, doors that will not stay closed, sagging shelves and drawers that stick are the most common signs that builder-grade cabinets have reached the end of their life. Water damage under the sink is another — particleboard swells and rarely recovers. If the layout already works, replacing cabinets in the same footprint is one of the most effective upgrades you can make to a home.

Why custom cabinets change how your kitchen works

Stock cabinets come in fixed widths, so a designer fits standard boxes into your room and fills the leftover gaps with filler strips. Those gaps add up. In a typical kitchen, building to fit can recover enough space for an extra drawer stack, a tall pantry pull-out or a deeper island — storage your family will use every single day.

Custom cabinetry also lets the kitchen follow your routines instead of the other way around. We can put a breakfast station next to the fridge, a snack drawer at kid height, a hidden charging drawer for phones, and a tall cabinet for brooms and the vacuum right where you need them. Cabinets can run all the way to a tall ceiling, so there is no dusty gap on top and the room looks finished.

How our cabinet process works

Every project starts in your home. We measure every wall, window, outlet and appliance, and we ask how you cook, where clutter gathers and what frustrates you about the current kitchen. From there we prepare a layout and drawings you can review, along with door style, wood, finish and hardware options.

Once you approve the design and the written quote, we build and prepare your cabinetry. On installation day we protect your floors and the path through your home, remove the old cabinets carefully and install the new ones level and square, scribing to walls that are not perfectly straight. Trim, crown and hardware come last, followed by a walkthrough where every door and drawer is adjusted until it is right.

Choosing a finish that fits family life

Painted cabinets in warm white, greige or soft green are popular for a bright, timeless look. Stained wood hides small scratches and fingerprints better and brings warmth to the room. Many families choose both: a painted perimeter with a stained or natural wood island that takes the most daily wear.

Hardware is the jewelry of the kitchen, but it is also something your family touches hundreds of times a week. We help you choose pulls that are comfortable in the hand, easy to clean and sized correctly for each door and drawer.

  • Lower doors and drawers take the most wear — consider a forgiving finish there
  • Soft-close hinges and full-extension slides protect small fingers and make every drawer usable
  • Under-cabinet lighting is a small investment that transforms evening cooking

Beyond the kitchen

Once you see what custom cabinetry can do, it often makes sense to carry it into other rooms. We build matching vanities, laundry room cabinets, mudroom lockers and benches, coffee bars, built-in bookcases and home-office storage, so the whole house shares the same quality and style.

Timeline

Most custom cabinet projects take a few weeks from approved design to installation, depending on the size of the kitchen and material availability. We give you a written schedule before work starts.

Investment

Every home is different, so we quote each project in writing after an in-home consultation. Your quote lists the full scope, materials and schedule — no surprises later. The main things that shape the price of a custom kitchen cabinets project are:

  • Linear feet of cabinetry and ceiling height
  • Wood species and box construction
  • Door style — inset and detailed profiles take more labor
  • Painted, stained or multi-step finishes
  • Interior organizers, pull-outs and specialty pieces
  • Removal of old cabinets and wall or floor conditions

Custom Kitchen Cabinets FAQ

What is the difference between custom and semi-custom cabinets?

Custom cabinets are built to the exact dimensions of your kitchen, so there are no filler strips or wasted space, and you can choose any size, style and finish. Semi-custom cabinets come in standard sizes with some modifications available.

Can you keep my countertops and only replace the cabinets?

Sometimes. If your countertops are in good condition and the new cabinets match the existing footprint, it may be possible. We will check during the in-home consultation and tell you honestly whether it is worth the risk.

Do you also paint or refinish existing cabinets?

Our focus is new custom cabinetry. If your cabinet boxes are solid, we can talk through options during your consultation.

How long do custom cabinets last?

Well-built custom cabinets with quality boxes, drawer construction and finishes can last for decades with normal care. Hardware such as hinges and slides can be adjusted or replaced over time without replacing the cabinets.

Can custom cabinets fit a kitchen with uneven walls or floors?

Yes. Custom cabinets are installed level and scribed to the actual walls, which makes them a better fit than stock boxes in homes where walls or floors are not perfectly straight.

Do you install new countertops with custom cabinets?

Yes. Countertops are templated after the cabinets are installed for an exact fit, and we coordinate the countertop step as part of the project schedule.

Can I reuse my existing appliances with new cabinets?

Yes. We design around the exact dimensions of your current appliances, or the ones you plan to buy, so everything fits correctly.

Do you offer cabinet hardware?

Yes. We help select and install knobs and pulls, sized and placed correctly for each door and drawer.
